Barrichello’s backfire…
Accusing his own teammates as the one and only reason behind his defeat at the German Grand Prix, the most experienced and skilled driver of the Brawn-Mercedes team did create a sensational atmosphere within the team. Being terribly upset over the unexpected outcome, Barrichello told the BBC that in spite of him doing everything he could to win the race, the sudden changes in the pit-stop strategies did leave him stand second in the podium while he actually deserved a first.
Frustrated to the core, the Brazilian racer with nine career GP wins actually blasted out his feelings stating that if the team sets going like this then they will have to face the terrible situation of losing both the championships.” To be honest, I wish I could just get on a plane and go home now. I don’t want to talk to anybody in the team because it would just be a load of ‘blah, blah, blah’. And I don’t want to hear that. I am just terribly upset”, said the veteran. It is the second time that the Brazilian has hit out at his employers. Having switched his team-mate Jenson Button and himself to three-stop strategies from two was the main cause for his accusation. But for his part, Brawn said that Barrichello had not been quite quick enough. Even then the Brazilian’s comment doesn’t seem to have affected his reputation in the team for they consider him to be a valuable member who has a lot of loyalty and that is not something that will be destroyed with his words of frustration after the race. This looks like something healthy from the team’s side and Barrichello, though stuck with difficult times now, is soon expected to prove himself the best once again.
